Japan to Provide $ 700 Million to Central Asia

DUSHANBE (Avesta News Agency) – The fourth meeting of Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue Foreign Ministers took place on November 10 in Tokyo. Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev, Foreign Minister of Japan Koichiro Gemba, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Idrisov, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Hamrohon Zarifi, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov attended the event.

The Foreign Ministers reiterated interest in deepening of the regional cooperation for the purpose of stable and sustainable development of the region.

The joint statement on building a new partnership between Japan and Central Asia was signed. The given document defines the priority areas of further cooperation. The Government of Japan pledged US $700 million for the projects which will facilitate regional cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan expressed readiness to design the official website of Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue to inform about activities of the participating countries.

The fifth ministerial meeting will be held in 2014 under chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan.
